Our take
sonnen is one of the original residential battery makers (German origin, now Shell-owned) and, per this pass's own research, its product line has turned over meaningfully: the 'eco' model this project's own brief suggested researching is confirmed discontinued (solarreviews.com states plainly 'Is a current model? No'), and sonnenCore+ is the current US replacement. Spec sources genuinely disagree on two figures this pass checked independently: EnergySage lists 8 kW continuous power and 4.8 kW peak power for the same model, which is backwards from how every other product in this catalog reports continuous vs. peak (peak should exceed continuous, not the reverse) -- almost certainly a data-entry swap on EnergySage's part. This catalog entry instead uses the retailer listing that republishes sonnen's own SCORE-P10 spec sheet directly (4.8 kW continuous), which is internally consistent, and discloses the EnergySage discrepancy rather than silently using whichever number looked better.
Best for
Buyers who want a UL-certified, US-market-current sonnen system after confirming the 'eco' model they may have researched is no longer sold.
Watch out for

Before you buy this
Size on continuous power (kW) for what you actually want backed up during an outage, not just usable capacity (kWh) — a well pump or a heat pump compressor starting can draw far more than its running wattage. List your essential loads and ask whether the proposed inverter can start them together, not just hold them once running. And confirm the quote isn't still claiming the 30% federal credit, which expired for anything placed in service after 31 December 2025.
