Canadian Solar HiKu7 Solar Module
7 of 10 catalogued products have a real, seller-observed per-module price from Solar Cellz USA (store.solarcellzusa.com), a public online solar- equipment retailer selling individual modules ($201-$400/panel range observed). That is 70% coverage — meets the >=70% P3c/P7 gate exactly, not comfortably. The 3 unpriced products (Maxeon 7, LONGi Hi-MO X6 Scientist, JinkoSolar Tiger Neo) sell almost exclusively through installer/distributor channels rather than public retail; left unpriced rather than estimated, per this project's no-invented-numbers rule (see price_seed.py's own note on this). Two priced observations are for a smaller-wattage or earlier-generation module from the same manufacturer (REC's older 420W Alpha vs. the catalogued Pure-RX; Canadian Solar's TOPHiKu6 vs. the catalogued HiKu7) and are flagged as proxies, not exact SKU matches, in price_seed.py directly.
21.6-22.7% efficient module positioned on cost per watt rather than peak specification.
Our take
When roof area is not the constraint, the lowest cost per watt produces the most electricity per dollar, and that is this panel's argument. Its temperature coefficient of -0.35%/°C is the weakest in our set, so it gives up more output on hot afternoons — a fair trade in a cool climate, a worse one in the desert.
Best for
Large roofs and ground mounts in temperate climates where cost per watt governs.
Watch out for
The temperature coefficient makes this a poor choice in a hot climate.

Equipment price is not installed price. The listings above are what the hardware costs. Installation — labour, electrical, refrigerant lines, permits, removing the old system — is typically a similar amount again, and varies more between contractors than between brands. Where we have an installed figure it is labelled as such and comes from someone who actually installs.

Before you buy this
Ask what the production estimate is based on — an actual shading analysis or a rule of thumb — and what export rate it assumes; net metering rules move the payback more than any panel spec. Confirm the quote isn't still claiming the 30% federal credit: it expired for anything placed in service after 31 December 2025. If financed, ask for the all-in cost including interest, not just the monthly payment.
