Our take

Bosch's pitch here is value, and it lands. You give up a few points of heating efficiency against a Carrier Infinity and roughly 10°F of low-temperature range, but in climate zone 4 or 5 you will almost never notice, and the price gap is real. The dealer network is thinner than Carrier's or Trane's, which matters more than the spec sheet when something breaks in February.

Best for

Zone 4-5 homes wanting variable-speed comfort without flagship pricing.

Watch out for

Fewer dealers means fewer people who know how to commission it. Ask specifically how many IDS systems the contractor has installed.

Before you buy this

Ask the contractor for the AHRI certificate number for the specific indoor/outdoor combination being installed — ratings apply to matched pairs, not to the outdoor unit alone. Ask whether they will perform a Manual J load calculation rather than sizing off the equipment being replaced. And check your state and utility incentive programmes: there is no federal tax credit for a 2026 installation, so those programmes are now the only incentive money available, and many require approval before installation.
