A genuinely different shape from the modulating/two-stage units that dominate this catalog: single-stage means full-fire or off, no low-fire running. At 95% AFUE it clears ENERGY STAR's new South regional bar but not the North's 97% floor. The Lifetime heat exchanger and 10-year parts warranty (both standard, not just an upper-tier perk) are a real strength at this price point.
Best for
A straightforward, lower-cost condensing replacement where the deeper comfort gains of two-stage or modulating operation aren't worth the added cost.
Watch out for
Single-stage full-fire operation means more temperature swing and more on/off cycling than any other new product in this pass -- read the oversizing_short_cycling regret cluster before pairing this with anything but a careful heat-loss calculation.

Ask whether the AFUE rating on the quote is for this specific model or a nameplate range. If it's being paired with a new air conditioner, ask for the AHRI reference number for that exact indoor/outdoor combination — a high-efficiency furnace matched to the wrong coil won't deliver its rated numbers. And ask for a Manual J load calculation rather than a like-for-like swap of the old unit's output.
